Cloud 9 presents ABBY
Abby was born Nikki Wennekes on March 16, 1991 in Amsterdam and grows up in a musical family, her father being a keyboardist/ guitarist and younger brother playing the drums. The radio at home is almost always on and Abby mostly listens to R&B, Pop, Soul, Jazz and the Blues. Already at a very young age Abby realizes she has a good voice. At the age of 11 she participates in a talent contest and blows the crowd and jury away with her rendition of the Alicia Keys song Fallin’.
She decides to pursue her dream of becoming a singer, starts taking singing lessons, records her first demo CD at the tender age of 13. Her demo somehow manages to make its way to Phil Wilde, producer of among others the dance act 2 Unlimited, Dance Diva Kate Ryan and teenage heartthrob and past Idols contestant Jim. Phil invites her to come down to Belgium. Abby, by then only 15 years old, sings a few songs for him and ends up signing a management contract with Phil Wilde and sometimes partner Raymond van Vliet , CEO of Cloud 9 Music.
At the moment Abby lives in a small Dutch town called Doesburg. She graduates from High School and besides doing the things 18 year olds do, she spends the rest of her time with producers choosing the material for her debut album. Abby has a distinguished voice and you can clearly hear the R&B and Dance influences on her debut album. First single “Boys” is a saucy, sexy, upbeat song guaranteed to turn heads, boys and girls alike.
